Finding the Right Theme for Website Goals
-
Hi,
I’m building a site for an auto repair garage, and I’m having trouble finding a suitable theme. I was hoping someone could help narrow my search.
It’s a small, single-operator shop, and all customer traffic comes by phone or by walking through the door in person. This isn’t going to change any time soon, so we’re designing the site with that in mind.
My biggest problem is that I DON’T want large images at the top of each page. I can’t find any themes that don’t include them, and I can’t figure out how to take them out.
My second problem is that, for the home page specifically, I DO want a large, eye-catching image, but I want that space to usable for other things, too. I want promo text/phone number on the left 2/3, and a Google Map on the right 1/3. And all of this above the “fold”—it’s a visual call-out that includes contact info and directions, front-and-center when the site loads.
Can anyone suggest any free themes that would meet these criteria? I’ll keep looking in the meantime, but suggestions are appreciated.

I should also mention I’m prepared to use HTML/CSS editing. But I’d like to do as much as possible with the theme’s native format, first.

Hi Dave,
Karuna, Pique, and Gateway are three business focused themes that I like very much. Have you looked at any of those yet?
Sela, Edin, and Goran (which I see you’re already using) are also popular.
You’re right that many of our themes make use of featured images, but you could choose not to upload images if that suits you better.
Take a look through the above suggestions and let me know if any catch your eye o if you have further questions.
