Finding themes in Appearance | Themes

I have two WordPress.com blogs. When I go to Appearance | Themes, one of them offers 286 themes to choose from; the other offers only 209. Why the difference? Is there some setting that needs to be changed?

(Also, a theme I want to try in one of my blogs is available on the other one, but not the one i want to try it on. Again, why the difference?)

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

That’s actually an excellent question! I am putting that very question to the folks who manage our themes to try and get an answer for you.

What theme is it that you want to use, and which blog was it you wanted it to be used on? I’ll see what’s going on with that as well!

Thank you much for pointing this out to me!

    I have two wp.COM blogs:
gbp2.wordpress.com (it is this one which offers me 286 themes, including Annotum Base and Annotum Sans)
christourpassoverdotcom.wordpress.com (it is the one which offers me only 209 themes, but alas NOT either of the Annotum ones; it also makes me wonder what else I’m missing in the 77 themes I’m not seeing here)
I wanted to at least try the Annotum themes on my second blog for use of its footnoting / source citation capabilities.
If Annotum’s solution won’t work, are there other ways to get footnotes in a wp.COM blog — similar to the “Simple Footnotes” plugin available for wp.ORG blogs?
    Many thanks!

My apologies… I cited my own blog’s address wrong.
The second one above should have been:
    christourpassoverdotorg.wordpress.com
    Thanks.

    Heya,

I didn’t want you to think that I’ve forgotten about you!

Here’s where we stand right now:

The reason why one of your blogs shows more themes as being available than the other is because as themes age, they are retired. As long as they were ever available, they are shown in your list of themes. Your newer blog wasn’t around at that time, so it doesn’t have as complete a list.

What I’ve been waiting on is our folks in the theme department are going to look at the old and retired Annotum theme and make a suggestion which you can try which is still active. That way you at least have a starting point!

As soon as I have a suggestion for you, I’ll be getting back to you.
