Finding WordPress Pro subscription when using different host
-
Hey all, I paid for a WordPress Pro account, but am using a different hosting service (SiteGround) and cannot find where to manage the Pro account subscription in the dashboard for my site. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hi there,
WordPress.com and Siteground are two completely different companies, both hosting providers for the open source WordPress software made by the community on WordPress.org.
A WordPress.com upgrade plan cannot be bought for a site hosted at another provider, like SiteGround, so I’m guessing you’re thinking of the hosting plan you bought for joshswebdesign.com, from SiteGround. For help with that plan, you need to contact SiteGround support directly, as we have no control over or information about the services you’ve bought from them.
Your site at joshswebdesign.com doesn’t have any connection at all to your username account here on WordPress.com.
If you bought the WordPress.com Pro plan, it would be for a site with an example.wordpress.com address, but the
joshuadamianoaccount you used to create this forum thread has never bought anything from us. -
Thanks for the response. The only thing that I guess doesn’t make sense then is this. How am I able to use Pro features like connecting plugins if I don’t have a Pro account? If I bought another domain from siteground, would I still be able to use plugins again for that site without a Pro account?

If you’re hosting your site at SiteGround, you’re using the unmodified, open source version of WordPress, so you should already have the ability to use plugins.
The restriction that you must have the Pro plan to use plugins is specific to our hosting on WordPress.com, where we use a modified version of that software that has some features limited for free users :)
