Fine Art America embed codes not showing images

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

I had this issue previously (see here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/previously-working-fine-art-america-embed-code-no-longer-showing-up?replies=24) and it’s reared it’s ugly head again, only this time, it’s showing images in older posts but for the past many months I cannot add new images using FAA’s image embed code. It shows perfectly fine in the editor, but once a widget or post is saved, the image does not show up live. It shows linked text instead of the image. Last time it was a problem with WordPress. Would someone please look into this for me? Thank you!

  • Hi there,

Can you please link to a specific post, and provide the link you’re trying to use to add the image?

I had a look at your latest few posts, including the draft post on your site, and in all of them what I see in the editor exactly matches what I see on the site itself.

    Hi,

I have not been using the embed code since it’s not working, so the images you see are different code. I’ll post an example in a draft for you to see using the FAA embed code. The image shows in the draft, but when the post is made live it disappears and only the text shows. I also put a widget in the same draft that doesn’t show the images upon saving either, only text. Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Thank you for that draft post.

This is kind of related to your earlier thread. In that case, you were embedding images from a http source, and because your site is served over https our system automatically rewrote those links which caused them to not work.

But in this case, I noticed the widget code you tried to use uses https, while the image links used http, so I tried changing the image link to https as well and it looks like that did the trick. So if you add an image link from that site, open the HTML editor and make sure the link after src=” starts with https, not http, and it should work.

The widget link works by embedding a .php file on the site where you add it. That is not possible on WordPress.com for security reasons, so you won’t be able to use that widget here at all.

    Hello,

Thanks so much for your response. I’ll give this a try and see if it clears up the issue.

    Hi there,

I tried adding an “s” to the http: in the image codes and they still aren’t displaying. What else am I missing? You can view the newest post to see.

    Thanks.

  • Changing the link to https works for the Fine Arts America website because they already have SSL enabled on their site.

The images you added in your latest post link to http://sol-luckman.pixels.com/ and http://www.redbubble.com/

Those sites don’t have SSL, so it won’t work to change their links to https. Either those sites will need to add SSL, or you will need to download the images and upload them to your media library here.

If those are your sites, you can get an SSL certificate for free from LetsEncrypt.org, though your hosting provider might charge a fee for connecting it to your site.
