It sucks that plain users can´t use flash objects. I´ve just discovered this nice site, http://www.finetune.com , which allows you to create your own radiostation.
I wonder when will we be able to embed flash apps… -
I would imagine that once the staff figure out a way to embed flash without having any security issues as that is why it is not allowed now. Nice link though, as I hadn’t come across that one before ;)

Are you aware of the security issues and hence limitations of working on a shared multi-user blogging platform like wordpress.com? If I were to hack into a single embed like the one you suggest I could gain access to all of the over 690,000 wordpress.com blogs. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/can-i-add-flash-video-embed-other-media/
However, despair not for wordpress has another option. You can hire web host and have him or her download a free http://wordpress.org blog template, then you can import your wordpress.com blog contents into it. You will be able to hack the template to your heart’s content and install as many flash embeds as you want because wordpress.org blogs are entirely different software and the only security you will be compromising is your own.
So you see nothing about wordpress sucks. There are alternatives that can be chosen to achieve happy blogging.

Not only that, but you can create your own podcasts with several of the embeds that ARE allowed here. If it’s audio only, Odeo is an option, as is the proprietary MP3 player here at WordPress. If it’s video, you have seven different options to choose from.

Instead of complaining and looking like an idiot, why not send in a feedback with the suggestion that staff add support for this site? I think it sucks actually that you don’t know the words “please” and “thank you.”
Of course this is probably just yet another person sprouting off in the forums where we’ll never see again, complaing about the security measures that have kept their blog intact for (quick check) 11 months now without issue or attack or hack. I even wonder if they have noticed that…

Thanks for your answers, and no, I wasn´t complaining at all. As you can see I´m interested in any solution the forum provides (since I´m replying), I only wanted to suggest to add finetune to the widget features. Truth is I´m not a programmer nor a software expert.
I wasn´t aware of the security issues involving the flash subject.On the other hand I´m very pleased by the recent video options, like vopdod itself.
Wordpress is by far the best blog server I´ve tried, and that´s not a cheap compliment. -
Thank you for the follow up. Gotta admit that it sounded like you were complaining but I’m glad you followed up on your post. We get these many times a week around here where folks would come in and bitch and moan about not being able to do stuff and we try to explain why security is important and we never hear back from them.
It’s rather annoying actually.
