Firefox 3 doing odd things? (Formatting/media player/vids)
-
The other day I upgraded from Firefox 2 to Firefox 3 as my main browser.
Almost straight away I noticed that the Yahoo! media player wasn’t working on the many music blogs I visit; I then realised none of the mp3s on my own blog would play.
The ‘normal’ mp3 Flash player doesn’t even show up now, and whilst the Yahoo! player does appear, nothing happens when I press ‘play’.
In addition the formatting on my blog has gone a little shonky (eg http://bristle.wordpress.com/2008/04/28/the-art-of-remaking-paper-planes/ – previously all those entries abutted to the left, no problem; now they bunch up right beneath the previous entry’s text, because the ‘normal’ mp3 player isn’t showing).
Finally, for some reason on blog entries using video sites that aren’t YouTube (eg Google Video), the videos don’t show up anymore either.
I went back and reinstalled Firefox 2, and everything shows up fine, and works; ditto Safari.
Is anyone else having the same problem with their WP blog? Are there any bodges to get the mp3/video players working properly? I can’t find anything directly analogous to this on the Mozilla support forums.
I’m running FF 3.0.1 on a G5 Mac with OSX 10.4 (Tiger).
Cheers in advance!

It isn’t actually Firefox 3.
That page has some really bad problems. W3C validator reports there are 399 errors on that page. I doubt there are that many and suspect that something in the coding for the ordered or unordered lists is messed up and making it look like there are massive errors.
First thing I would do is to go to settings > writing and click the “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” radio button and then click “save changes” at the bottom of the page. Then, open the post for edit and click save. WordPress should then (hopefully) fix all the HTML.
If that does not work, then open the post for edit, switch to the HTML tab, select everything in the window, and then press the “close tags” button to see if that will fix it.
If that does not fix it, then it is going to require some serious footwork in the HTML tab.

Shoot, WordPress isn’t recognizing the entire URL. Go to http://validator.w3.org/ and paste http://bristle.wordpress.com/2008/04/28/the-art-of-remaking-paper-planes/ into the address field.

If you upgraded to FF3 from a update window that popped up
I suggest removing FF3 and when you do it will ask you do
you want the user profile removed also check mark it and
click uninstall…The reason I suggest this is because if you downloaded FF3
under the upgrade window circumstance then there will still
be reminiscence of FF2 still in the Profile folder for Firefoxby uninstalling the FF3 and checking marking remove profile
in the unstall option will clean this off your mac. Then just point your browser here and re download FF3

I didn’t realize that. I installed FF 3 from the upgrade window and have not had any issues, but then I’m on a Mac.
There is still the issue of the errors. Some of the relevant ones are unclosed tags, and some are obviously tag nesting issues from what I can see. Again, I don’t think there are actually 399, but only a few that are carrying over and causing the other errors. I recently took care of some errors for a friend (W3C reported 51) and I actually only made three corrections to take care of all of them.
