hi all,
i am new in wordprees and i have a question. i am writing articles on my blog and last post appearing on top of the page. i want to determine an article to be first and it will always appear top of the page. is this possible?
thanks :) -
the only way to do this is to put the article in a static page and then set that page as the first one readers see in Options->Reading

Create a pair of Pages at Dashboard -> Write -> Page. One will be your front page and contain what you want on it. The other one, please leav blank. The second Page will be where your Posts will go.
Visit Dashboard -> Options -> Discussion. You’ll see a pair of drop down menus on that page. One will determine what you want on your front page, the other one will be the link to your Posts.
Hope this helps,

NOTE: The 2nd part of DrMike’s instructions should refer to Dashboard->Options->Reading, not Discussions.
Long day, DM? ;-)

Thank you Judyb12 and DrMike,
I messed around and it looks like a got a page with a good
post and now the about page request results in the not found
message. It’s not quite right though because the page I wrote looks
good but it still has the top Account – My Dashboard – Post
strip above.I will contact Support to-morrow because there’s a problem
with my URL too – I got a domain after I had started with
WordPress “MyOwnCashmachineblog.com” and it looks
like it’s not being forwarded properly.Anyway thank you guys,
Fran

@myowncashmachine
I do not say this to offend you but only to inform you as wordpress.com is a different blog host than most so please do not “shoot the messenger”, okay.Due to your username and the contents of the page I read on your blog at http://myowncashmachine.wordpress.com including but not limited to

I’m wondering if you have read the TOS and the FAQs on the subject of advertising. Basically blogs hosted by wordpress.com are non-commercial blogs.
Here’s the link to the TOS http://wordpress.com/tos/
This is what the FAQs says:
Adsense, Yahoo, Chitika and other ads are not permitted to be added by users. Adverts that may be inserted when using an external blogging program will be blocked.
Sponsored posts including PayPerPost are not permitted.
A discrete link to your business or a site you are associated with in the sidebar or an About page is permitted.
A discrete link to Amazon or similar in the context of a post is okay, but if the primary purpose of the blog is to drive traffic to affiliate programs that’s not allowed. If you’re not sure, contact support.
Clicktrackers and any promotion of the “I made a million on the internet and so can you” type of advertising are expressly forbidden.
We have a very low tolerance for blogs created purely for search engine optimization or commercial purposes, machine-generated blogs, and will continue to nuke them, so if that’s what you’re interested in WordPress.com is not for you. -

Fran,
you will always see the blue admin bar across the top of your blog while you are logged in. If you log out, it will go away. Readers who don’t have (or aren’t logged into) a wordpress.com account will not see it.
