New to wordpress.com
Successfully published my first blog post. A few days later, I tried to publish a second post. It will not save or publish. The error is: ‘Updating Failed. You are probably offline.’
I’m definitely not offline. I’ve tried reading the forums, and nothing has helped. -
Additional info:
Using Bluehost for hosting wordpress.comBluehost assigned 3 domains.
I purchased a personalized doman through Bluehost.I’m guessing I messed up something regarding which domain is assigned, parked, etc etc. No idea what I did wrong. Maybe this isn’t the problem at all.
The very first post can be seen at the new domain name.
Also strange… The only way I can save a new draft now is by using “QUICK DRAFT” which doesn’t include the ability to post graphs or make edits. But it’s strange that “QUICK DRAFT” works, whereas the editor doesn’t allow me to publish.

Hi there,
Can you please let me know your site’s address so I can point you in the right direction of getting support?
Please note that these forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If your site is using the open-source WordPress.org software you need to seek help at these forums:
-
I’m confused regarding whether or not it’s http or https.
The rest of the address is either kid.uys.mybluehost.me (assigned by wordpress) or sciencereport.info (purchased from bluehost)
I signed up with wordpress.com not org -
I just dug around and found some more info. Here’s the message I received when I tried to install SSL certificate:
This SSL certificate was already installed.
The SSL website is now active and accessible via HTTPS on these domains:
mail.sciencereport.info
sciencereport.info
The SSL website is also accessible via these domains, but the certificate does not support them. Web browsers will show a warning when accessing these domains via HTTPS:
fip.uys.mybluehost.me
giz.uys.mybluehost.me
kid.uys.mybluehost.me
mail.fip.uys.mybluehost.me
mail.giz.uys.mybluehost.me
mail.kid.uys.mybluehost.me
The SSL certificate also supports this domain, but this domain does not refer to the SSL website mentioned above:
http://www.sciencereport.info -
I was assigned these domains by wordpress.com :
fip.uys.mybluehost.me
giz.uys.mybluehost.me
kid.uys.mybluehost.meThey are not SSL?
But the domain I purchased from Bluehost has SSL.
So how do I resolve this, so I don’t get the error that I am now getting:
“Your connection is not private Attackers might be trying to steal your information”
(I no longer have an issue with saving draft, because I switched to classic editor. But now, if I try to view my post, I get the error above about the non-private connection and attackers. I think it’s because of the http vs https discrepancy in the assigned domains vs the purchased domain.
How do I resolve this?

Hi there!
Since your site is not hosted with WordPress.com (it is a site using the open-source WordPress software, from WordPress.org, but hosted with Bluehost), you’ll want to reach out to them directly about it or write on the community forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:
http://wordpress.org/support/ is also a great resource for sites using the open-source WordPress.org software.

I switched from blocks to Classic Editor. That fixed the first problem.
Not sure how I fixed the second problem… overnight it seems the SSL discrepancy magically resolved.
New problem… Classic Editor doesn’t allow me to increase the size of a photo to span across the width of the full page. Guess I’ll have to work on that problem next.
-
You’ll need to make an account on https://wordpress.org/ and post in their support forums because we don’t have any access to the site for troubleshooting purposes. It is not on our managed hosting service.
-
If I have an issue with the editor that I’m using on wordpress.com, is that an issue for the wordpress.com forum or the wordpress.org forum?
For example, my current issue is that the blocks editor allowed me to size my graphs across the width of the page. But the Classic Editor won’t allow me to increase the size of my graphs across the entire width of the page.
Is that a wordpress.com or .org forum question?

Is that a wordpress.com or .org forum question?
In your case everything is a .org question. Your site is hosted at Bluehost not WordPress.com which is a totally different place where sites can be hosted. You’re using the wordpress software so you need to register an account at the support forum that helps with that.
https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
read: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ -
You don’t have any sites connected to your WordPress.com account, so you wouldn’t be using the editor here at WordPress.com.
So, you would need to reach out to WordPress.org support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

Before opening an account with WordPress.com I researched the different sites and chose wordpress.com over wordpress.org
I use wordpress.com to post and edit. The only reason I involved bluehost is because the wordpress.com domain name was complicated, so I purchased a domain name from bluehost. But then I still used wordpress.com to post and edit, not .org
I don’t understand the explanation that I am using wordpress.org instead of .com

I’ve read those links before, and still not clear on one thing…
I chose wordpress.com and set up an account with wordpress.com. After workinig with wordpress.com as the host for a couple weeks or so, I decided to get a domain (in addition to the long complicated wordpress.com domain that was assigned to me by wordpress.com), but I was told that I couldn’t get a domain through wordpress.com but that I could get it through bluehost instead. So I bought a domain from bluehost. So am I understanding this correctly?…….. I used to be usng the wordpress.com editor hosted by wordpress.com, but then after I purchased a domain from bluehost, I was switched from wordpress.com to wordpress.org for the editor?
-
You did have a site with us for a while, but that’s no longer with us. It’s not using the self-hosted WordPress.org software, hosted with Bluehost.
WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Also, if I do not have wordpress.com any longer, I do not understand how the 3 temporary domains that were assigned to my site are interfering with the SSL certificate. These temp domains are http, and it is causing “Top Level Domain” errors, keeping my site from showing up as https on some but not all browsers and devices. Yes, I have ssl certificate on the purchased domain, and I tested it and it’s working. But there is interference from the temporary http domains pointing to http. I think there must be some media on my website that is still pointing to HTTP due to the fact that I set up the website with wordpress.com and didn’t switch domains to bluehost https until after the website was set up. But this is over my head to fix, unless I strip the site down and start all over from scratch?
-
In other words, wordpress.com assigned me 3 domains. They were all HTTP, with one primary and 2 parked. I wanted a personalized domain so I purchased one from bluehost. That one is https with SSL certificate that is working.
But something on my original website that was set up and hosted originally on wordpress.com is still pointing to http not https.
This is causing a lot of trouble, as some browsers will not accept my domain without an error message, and then direct it to http. (Yes I cleared the caches.)
Other browsers direct to https. Sporadic. -
This is the message. And it has everything to do with the wordpress.COM temporary domains that I was assigned. As you can see below, the 3 temporary wordpress.COM domains are not supported by my SSL certificate, and it is causing some sort of inconsistent problem where some sites pull up https and others pull of http and still others pull up warnings. See the message regarding SSL health below please……
“This SSL certificate was already installed.
The SSL website is now active and accessible via HTTPS on these domains:
mail.sciencereport.info
sciencereport.info
The SSL website is also accessible via these domains, but the certificate does not support them. Web browsers will show a warning when accessing these domains via HTTPS:

kid.uys.mybluehost.me
mail.fip.uys.mybluehost.me
mail.giz.uys.mybluehost.me
mail.kid.uys.mybluehost.me
The SSL certificate also supports this domain, but this domain does not refer to the SSL website mentioned above:
http://www.sciencereport.info” -
Here I just found another clue of the problem. When trying to re-install the SSL certificate, I received the message below. It referenced the 3 domains that I received from wordpress.COM as well as the domain I purchased from bluehost. I don’t know how to fix this error?
“Install an SSL Website
Note: You do not have a dedicated IP address. As a result, web browsers that do not support SNI will probably give false security warnings to your users when they access any of your SSL websites. Microsoft® Internet Explorer™ on Windows XP™ is the most widely used web browser that does not support SNI.”
