FIrst blog………first try………..not ready to go ilve………

Please tell me this really isn’t published?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
To change blog visibility to Private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings
Note that I never do this when I register a new blog because it takes weeks for search engines to index the content and I don’t want a private blog entry appearing in search engine results. I choose not to tell anyone what the URL is while I am setting up a new blog. As WordPress.com is a turnkey operation and as all blogs wearing the same theme use the same underlying template found on the live demo site, it doesn’t take long to set up a WordPress.COM blog. Those I help who have no blogging skills at all can have one up and running with 4 posts and 4 pages in 4 hours time.

Thank you! I was in such a panic (as evidenced by my spelling of the word live) thinking that the “Hello this your first blog….” was actually posted. I clicked on add post, and it said there were no posts would I like to post the first one so I guess all is well.
But I still wonder if that silly intro page is there. Luckily I haven’t spread the word yet, so the URL is still safe. I think. On the stats it said were 4 visits??? How can that be.
Thank you for helping me out. I know it should be so simple.

You’re welcome and best wishes with your blog.
I recommend using the step by step tutorial linked to the bottom of your Admin page https://learn.wordpress.com
See also the “Video Quick Start” tutorial http://en.support.wordpress.com/video-quick-start/
The support documentation is all found at the Support link http://en.support.wordpress.com which is also linked to on the bottom of your Admin page.

Hopefully I’ll get through the startup without bothering you again – but I can make no guarantees.

Hi again, is it possible to make an appointment with you? To help me getting started? Apparently I commented on a post through the wp, and now I must be live? Also I have a formatting question or two, not sure if everything is the way I’d like it (specifically the blog roll).
Thanks in advance for any help. -
Hi timethief, Among other things, I am trying to install the blogs I follow (there are many)…..and yet, my dashboard says I am following none. Is there a special trick to pull them up? Am making progress, but it should be much more simple than it seems to be. Using the tutorial, but still having some issues. Thanks, Jen.

No I don’t take appointments. Please post exactly what you need help with into this thread.
Also I have a formatting question or two, not sure if everything is the way I’d like it (specifically the blog roll).
You can create a Blogroll in your Dashboard http://en.support.wordpress.com/blogroll/add-a-blogroll-link/ and display it by installing the Links widget. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/links-widget/
Alternatively, if the order of display does not suit you then you can use a text widget and display links in any order you choose. To do that create a draft post which you will later delete. After you have entered everything correctly and switched to the Text HTML editor and copied the code into the text widget you can delete the draft post.
For embedding links in post and pages this is the general link model:
<a href="URL HERE">Highlighted anchor text here</a>This is the visual result – it’s not actually linked here in the forum.
Highlighted anchor text here1. Enter the relevant descriptive anchor text you want to link to first. Note that “here” is not a good choice.
2. Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text. (If you don’t highlight the anchor text the chain icon will remain grayed out and not be useable.)
3. Next click the chain icon in the editor and proceed to create the link.Note:

I do not know what you mean by install. The blogs you follow are automatically displayed by this widget https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/blogs-i-follow-widget/
Note: All widgets are installed here > Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets

Oh goodness, thank you! Yes, I’ve just had a terrible time making sense of all this. By “install” I meant that I wanted to list them (not all on WP, and most I follow on bloglovin). There was a page to manage my blogs (or something like that) that said I was not following any blogs, which of course, caused confusion. I was hoping they would be automatically displayed…..apparently I’m a little timid about making changes. Off for the day now, will try your suggestions later. Again, thank you so much for your help!
