First Brave browser, now Vivaldi refuses to allow ‘like’ button when visiting wordpress

Hello? I cannot find out how to word this properly, apparently I’m not geek enough. I’m wanting to be active on wordpress and have my own site.
However, if I cannot ‘like’ someone else’s blog post then why would I bother?

No one has bothered to explain to me. I can’t figure out the vocabulary to ask specifically the question and get exacting results if I don’t know the Geek-speak. So please, help me out. Neither browser I mentioned in subject line, Nor WordPress Help Functions allow me to utilize this Very Basic Feature.
On my posts I’ve seen folks ‘liking’ my stuff, but if I cannot ‘like’ in return then why would I bother.
Indeed, I quit using Brave browser because of the trend to fake Customer Service to mean Customers have to provide Help Service to other Customers.
    Please say it ain’t so.
    Please assist me.
I’d like to get tipped in crypto-currency, but it means nothing if I cannot do basics.
If you cannot help me, please direct me to where I need to train my focus upon to attend to these issues. Wow. I’m underwhelmed so far. This is not intuitive except for folks who started from the grass-roots through every single stage of development.
In 1978 I was programming atop of DOS btw. I’m not a complete idiot.

  • Hi there,

As far as I can tell, this is the first time you’ve contacted us. We’re happy to help.

Not being able to “like” posts could be:

    – An issue with the site

    – An issue with your account

    – An issue in the browser

And sometimes it can be a combination of those things.

You mentioned it stopped working in Brave and then stopped working in Vivaldi. Both of those browsers are focused on privacy, so I’m wondering if the problem is related to your privacy settings.

But at this point I’m not sure what’s happening when you try to like a post. Do you see an error message? Does it just spin? Is the “like” option missing altogether? If you’ll send more info we’ll check it out.

When I click on “like” a window opens up. I see that something is being processed. Then the window closes. Refreshing the page shows nothing had changed.

If I could just discover how to go over my browser settings and be pointed in the direction of a glossary of terms and such I may be able to keep my nose above water. I thank you for writing back in reply to my request.

The biggest issue in trying to solve this is that neither Brave nor Vivaldi will provide assistance or point to where I can figure things out. Brave kept saying that if there were issues to contact them so they could do error checks and corrections of the interface if it was based on their browser.

Well, nothing was done. When I tried to contact them, and Vivaldi later, I was told I was posting things in the wrong place, etc. I thank you for your prompt reply to my request for help.

  • First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.
