First Page Says Continue Reading
-
I searched the archives but didn’t find this asked- I apologize if I missed it. Would you please look at
http://ceramicbisque.wordpress.com and tell me why it says continue reading for my opening page, without
any of article being shown? NONE of my article is showing when people go to the opening page, just “Continue
reading (article name) and it’s my first one.I read where if the post was long the BLOGGER could fix it to continue reading,
but I didn’t find the cutoff (or if there is one) where WORDPRESS continues it. So that is another question.
Appreciate the help :) -
If you look at the post, you will notice that the MORE tag is the very first thing in your post. Remove it and insert it again where you truly want to split the post. You have to tell the post exactly where to add the tag.
See http://faq.wordpress.com/2008/07/08/splitting-posts-with-the-more-tag/

How did it get there to begin with? I never inserted “more” (I do know html, just not how to blog, lol) So did wordpress do that by itself? It didnt show up that way during preview- so when you see “preview” that won’t always be the way it will appear? (Appreciate the help btw)
-
WordPress should not have done that by itself; did you copy and paste content from somewhere else? Otherwise, I cannot imagine how it would have ended up in your post.
If you simply do not want it there at all, just go ahead and remove it (click on the MORE tag in your visual editor and delete it). Save the post again, and it will no longer be there (nor should it ever randomly appear).

Yes, it fixed it immediately.
Nope, I wrote the article by hand. If it happens again, I’ll let you know. That was my very first post. Things appear to not be working smoothly, having another issue (can’t upload avatar image)but I’ll go research the archives first. :) Thanx bubel! -

Well, maybe the add image for avatar is doing something funky now too- because I tried a gif, tried a jpg, ftp’d the image to remote just in case that was required first, nada is working. (I know I sound like a newbie, but it’s just to wordpress. I have been a webmaster for 15 years and know how to upload a darned image.) As I said, I’m off to research that but there’s honestly nothing I can do differently. It will either accept the upload or not (and it’s a small image, avatar size, so that shouldnt have anything to do with it either.) I’ll start a new post on this but just thought I’d relay that <more> isn’t the only problem I’m having with routine things.

Avatars can be no bigger than 110×110
The file formats are mentioned at this
site http://gravatar.comP.s. Your wordpress.com avatar is hosted by Gravatar because it’s owned
by Automattic, which also owns wordpress, -
-
Oops typo correction
P.s. don’t sign out over @ Gravatar because it will sign you out @ WordPress.com also.
& vice-versa -
Thanks :) Just wondering why wordpress has a place to upload the photo if it’s not going to let me upload the photo :( Oh well. How do we “issue resolved” this thread? (I saw that on another one. Do mods do that?)

-
Nope staff don’t mark resolve the OP does The option is on the right
for you in this thread. -
Thanks :) I also noticed when I went to a different part of gravatar it said it takes 10 minutes for changes to go through, just in case someone reads this OT thread, lol. That black square showing up, I think that’s what accidentally got cropped when I hit save and the cropper dragged it back across the image to a dark spot. But since that is showing up, I know my other one wont be far behind. It’s a sea anenome for the background (since I am in Pensacola and go by pcola) Thanks for your help teck07, raincoaster, and bubel.

You’re welcome! ceramicbisque, :)
Side note it takes to 10 mins for Gravatar,
But longer for the avatar to propagate through the wordpress.com servers
Gravatar is also so your avatar will show up on self hosted sites that
are Gravatar, enabled.
