First Time blogger help

  I have 2 questions. This is my first time writing a blog. My front page does not have any content on it. I do a static Home page then add Post page. When I do the latest blogs I get the whole post instead of a summary of each posts.

  Next, My sidebar is below my content on each page and I want it in the right side bar. How do I change this?
