First time bloggers
-
Hi, I have never done this but have just been mucking around. I have no theme and my blog is very random. I am just experimenting. I havn’t visited this forum over the last two months. Does anyone just write random stuff?
I just meander all over the place writing about what I feel like writing about, and my fonts, etc, grammar often goes unchecked so my site looks rather grotesque. I check my stats and I havn’t ever had more than 146 views yet a day. (which is probably a good thing…lol) -
http://faq.wordpress.com is a good place to start if you have basic blogging questions. even if you don’t have any at the moment, it’s good to read what’s around because it’ll come in handy when you blog in the future.
a lot of blogging is done by trial and error by everybody. we don’t start a blog knowing automatically how everything works. it’s good to ask for help, but it’s also good to try and seek answers yourself first, because wordpress is filled with information for first-time bloggers. even past forum threads are not deleted for other bloggers to search and learn from them.
as for blogging content, there are no rules at all. blog as you wish. i certainly do!

there are no rules at all.
Except for such things like child porn, hate speech, etc. of course.

How to reply to a blog? I’m not sure what you mean…did they email you? If so, email them back. If you want to comment on one of their posts and they’ve enabled commenting, just leave a comment. If they haven’t enabled commenting, and you can’t find an email for them or a contact form, you’re out of luck. Some blogs don’t facilitate two-way communication.
Also, when your question is not related to a previous question, start a new thread, don’t bring up a dead one.

Thanks Raincoaster, what I mean is. I want to reply to 38pitches.com. It asks me to sign in which takes me to another page. Then when I go back to 38pitches .com it asks me to log in again. :( ..Sorry I am new to this I just am trying to leave a reply to his blog.

There seems to be something wrong with the site. It tells you you need to lgin even if you are logged in, just tried it. If you click the login link it takes you back to the wordpress.com home page.
As for a link, he already gave it drmike, a few posts up:- 38pitches.com
-
It’s better to leave it as a real, live link: http://www.38pitches.com We’re real lazy.
If the registration thing isn’t working, send a Feedback to staff. I am assuming here that it’s not a VIP blog with its own registration system.
[Edited link – drmike]

I was asking for a link to where specifically the poster is trying to leave the comment, not a link to the website. (ie a post)
You’ll note that he or she is seeing the bit about “You need to be logged in to leave a comment…” That means they’re on a Post page. That’s teh URL I was asking for. Not for the blog itself.
-
lol drmike is lazy >.< its aproblem with the site as a whole, ive tried to login several times on that site from different posts but it dosent work. But here you go:
-
If some people are able to comment but others are not, it’s probably a browser issue. I get this alot using IE6. Do the posts have comments on them?
-
Actually I was asking for the poster to provide a link. :)
It may not be on the site as a whole or they may been looking at teh front page without realizing that they need to be looking at a post page. Or they could be looking at a Post where comments have been turned off.
That’s why I was asking for a direct link.

Thx everyone who is trying to help me with this problem. Yes I get the the blog site, asks me to sign in , takes me to different page. I go back to page. All this time it does say on bottom leave reply. Wont let me. Others seem to be able to. thx for trying drmike, tiamatsdisciple and the rest. tiamatsdisciple, you do se what I mean? I am using IE7. If anyone has any ideas for me to try besides forget about 38pitches.com. I welcome them. Should I change any settings? just a thought. If I could write to the people who put up 38pitches.com I would but I really cant find anywhere to voice my problem. :(

You still haven’t answered my question. What is the specific URL that you’re trying to comment on? You gave the blog URL. I need to post page that you’re looking at.
Also logout, clear your browser’s file and cookie cache and log back in and se if that helps.

What now…your the expert here. I dont know how else to explain. Why are others able to reply and I cannot. I dont want to take up a whole page and everyones time in answering something that I assumed you would know drmaike. You try logging into 38pitches.com and try to reply. If you are able to do so pls tell me what you did. thx for your time. -
Did you clear your browser cache and cookies and try to comment again? That was the suggestion, and it usually works.
