Fishing email after registering for domain
-
After registering a domain, i got a confirmation from ‘help@wordpress.com’ and immediately after that from ‘(email visible only to moderators and staff)’ – ‘Action required for domain activation’ asking me to verify my email address – but it is addressed to your ‘Matt Mullenweg’, got lots of ‘WordPress.com’ links but no logo – it looks like a fishing email and what worries me is that i got it so fast – there seems to be a security problem? Please let me know if everything is ok with the domain and whether i have to do something else.

Hi!
I believe you’re referring to the ICANN verification email mentioned here:
That will come from a secureserver.net email address. Email verification is required for your domain to work correctly.
However, it shouldn’t be addressed to Matt. Could you upload a screenshot of the email to your Media Library so I can take a look?

Hi Happiness Engineer,
I just uploaded the screenshot to my library – hope you can see it – I can see ICANN in the footer on the mail but it looked a bit dodgy. I’ll validate it as soon as you say it’s ok, even though i’m not Matt ;-)
Cheers

Hi Silke,
Thanks for the screenshot! That is really odd. I’m not sure why it’s addressed to Matt! I’ll pass this on to our team. That is the correct email verification though. You will need to verify your email address for your domain to continue to work.

Hi Silke,
My colleague Siobhan sent you some email regarding this. Could you please respond when you have a chance? Thank you.
