  That is a limitation of the theme you are using.

  This blog post tells you the width of the post area for the themes here: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/23/maximum-image-width/ .

  To change the width of the theme you are using, you would need CSS editing experience and the paid CSS upgrade.
