Fixing sections on Spectrum theme
-
I got my friend to buy the CSS upgrade to do his site. Now that I have it, I have been trying to fix some things that look off place. There are three things I would appreciate help with.
1. Eliminate the #site.description transparency
2. Moving the #main up to the top Or maybe it is the header that is off. Right now it is a bit down. I tried changing the #main top padding but didn’t work.
3. For some reason, when I click the Home button, the site does not take me to the splash page, but to the CONVENIOS page. The site’s name is http://www.ox-academia.com
Appreciate your help!

I’ll flag this thread for you so it is moved by our Moderators into the CSS Forum. When you alter a theme’s stylesheet, you only need to put in the Editor the modification/additions to the CSS, not the entire thing. Read this for more info:

1. Declaring a color rather than transparent in the background declaration of #main turns the top transparency behind the tagline white.
#main { background: -moz-linear-gradient(100% 0 270deg, rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.5), #FFFFFF 160px) repeat scroll 0 0 #FFFFFF; }2. If you move #main up, what will you do with the navigation? Or perhaps I do not understand.
3. The standard home page button will always take you to the main site page, or the one that you have set as a static front page at settings > reading. The “CONVENIOS” tab at the top right takes you to this page: http://ox-academia.com/convenio/ . Again, perhaps I’m not understanding.

On issue number 2, I am unsure what is it I have to do to move up the header. There is a space almost the size of the banner itself above the HEADER. On issue three, the problem is when I click the Home button on the menu bar, it takes me to CONVENIOS and not to the SPLASH page.
-
CONVENIOS is set as the home page at settings > reading. If you do not want that as the home page, then go to settings > reading and set the correct page as the static front page.
I’m seeing the header image right up against the tagline area. I don’t see any blank area almost the size of the header. Do you want to dump the tagline area and move everything below it up and into that space or what?

I was able to fix the menu issue. As for the header, I think that ir appears differently in each computer. Now it appears OK. I will try changing the color for the transparency and see how it goes. Now, will changing the color make the #main or the #header move up a bit and occupy the space the transparency has now?
Thanks!

No, it will only change the color. Again, I’m having a tough time understanding what you want. The DIV for the tagline occupies the space above the header. That is what causes the header and the content below it to be where it is. To move the header to the top of that transparent area, you have to do something with the tagline. What do you want to do with the tagline?
If you just want to decrease the distance between the tagline and the header image, try this.
#site-description { background: none no-repeat scroll center bottom #FFFFFF; padding: 25px 35px 0; } -
Yes, I think that is what I meant but could not explain it clearly. I will try the code you provided.
Thanks for the patience!
