Fjords04 edit column width

Hello! I’m using the very lovely Fjords04 theme, but I’d like the first column to be wider. I’m pretty sure I can do that with CSS, but I’d rather not mess around with it to figure out how. Does someone know how to do this?

    Thanks!

This can certainly be done, but there are at least two things that would have to be changed. First off, the overall width of the theme is set at 970px under #wrapper and it will have to be widened by the same amount that you want to increase the main post column. The current width of the content area is under #content and currently is set at 270px.

So, if you want to change the width of the content column to 350px (an increase of 80px) then you would also have to increase the width under #wrapper by the same amount (1070px).

The thing to keep in mind is that a high percentage of internet users are still on 1024 x 768 monitor resolutions, and at that resolution, your usable area in a browser window (when it is maximized) is about 1000px, so to keep people from having to scroll horizontally, you would want to keep the #wrapper width at 1000px or less. Fjords04 is actually conservatively designed right now for a 1024 x 768 monitor resolution.

My suggestion is to not add more than 30px to the width of the content column and wrapper.
