Flash audio player embed support or advice please
-
I’ve been trying to embed a flash audio player (actually 2 different ones) on a wordpress.com hosted site with no luck. I am pasting the embed code into the HTML view. Nada, zilch, nothing.
I don’t have the mp3, so uploading is not an option – the songs are from Blip.fm & imeem.com. Players from those sites have been worked on other sites for me before.
I presume now that WordPress hosted sites don’t support flash audio players (ridiculous!). I saw a post that said for flash video use Vodpod. Is there the equivalent to Vodpod for audio?
Advice welcome!

Javascript, flash, iframes and forms are not allowed here due to security concerns, but wordpress has their own audio player and you can get details on it here: http://support.wordpress.com/audio/

Flash and javascript can cause issues, especially on a multi-user platform such as wordpress.COM. We all share the same underlying wordpress and theme files, so one bad piece of code inserted by a blogger could bring down a lot of blogs here.
Blogger, Facebook, and others have all had multiple outages caused by bad code installed by users.
The server my self-hosted blog is on at my webhost was destroyed by bad script installed by a user and my blog was down for 7 hours while they reformatted all the drives on the server and then did a complete restore from their latest backup.

Thanks so much for your reply AND for the explanation. I’d never actually seen the explanation before, so that sheds some light on things.
I did look at the WP audio player, but you need to have the mp3 file or be ale to link directly to the file online. Problem is, sights light Blip.fm, songza.com and imeem.com only provide an .HTML link as they are not hosting the files themselves.
Is there a VodPod-like solution for Audio?
Thanks.

None of which I’m aware. The Blip.tv video can be posted using Vodpod. What I do when I want music and don’t have the MP3 is just find a YouTube with it and use that.

Thanks raincoaster. I did consider using video instead. But for my purposes, I was trying to keep it strictly to music without a visual prompt. Hrrrm. I certainly didn’t think this would be so difficult to do.
Thanks for your feedback.

Per the FAQ I should be able to both upload and play m4a files on my blog. Here is what the FAQ indicates: Buy the Space Upgrade. This allows you to upload mp3, ogg, wav, m4a, mov, wmv, avi, and mpg files to your blog and play them too.
I bought the upgrade only to find that in reality you can only play mp3’s or music from oleo if you’re able to find it there. Is this correct? (my blog is http://sharonball.wordpress.com)

The FAQ on the space upgrade says you can upload mp4s. The FAQ on audio says that you can upload and play them, but also says that the wp audio player plays mp3s only, and suggests Odeo for other filetypes.
