Flash pop-up galleries?
-
I’m not the most tech savvy guy, so maybe I’m doing something wrong? I just put up a whole stack of photos as a gallery and I was disappointed that you couldn’t click on one thumbnail and have a flash pop-up full size image and then scroll through the rest of the images full size.
Is it possible to do it this way?

Thanks for your help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can try this way but it only works if you add the SocialVibe widget to your blog. It will make it so that an image pops up on the current screen but theres no way (yet?) to make it so that you can scroll through the images. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/popup-box-for-images?replies=7#post-356048
Also, theres no way I know of to do this using the gallery feature, but if you add the pictures in individually, then you can do this.

thanks for your help. I’m pretty disappointed that wordpress can’t offer a basic gallery that has a full size scrollable pop-up.
I’m guessing that you can’t even embed a 3rd party gallery into wordpress?
The more I use wordpress the less I like it!

@ramboestrada-No one said that using FREE WordPress.COM came without limitations (although the non-use of javascript is a self-imposed limitation due to security concerns). You also have the choice of setting up and paying for your own self-hosted blog using the WordPress.ORG software.
There is a refinement of sensico’s trick for using the thickbox CSS class here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/lightbox-2?replies=9
Also, in the meantime, you can use the regular Gallery feature, explained here http://gammagirl.wordpress.com/2008/07/27/not-the-official-wordpresscom-gallery-faq/ and also demonstrated here http://justjennifer.wordpress.com/2008/10/03/farmers-market/
Cheers!

Hi Justjennifer, thanks for your help. I definitely don’t mind paying for a decent website, but like I said I’m not very tech savvy. I looked into .ORG but it all looked way over my head unfortunately.
I’m just finding wordpress.com to be very frustrating. Not sure what to do, my personal .COM address is with wordpress so i guess I’m stuck here.

Like everything else, there’s a learning curve involved.
You should start with the Support Docs, as they give a broad layout as to the various features. The search feature there is also much better than the one in the forums for returning recent forum discussions (really!).
And, if you can, pick up the 2nd or most recent edition of “WordPress for Dummies” by Lisa Sabin-Wilson at your library. The book is mostly for self-hosted WordPress, but there are three chapters dealing with WordPress.COM and the book is laid out in a way that learning is more fluid than browsing the Support Docs, although all the info in the book is there. (NAYY-just a fangirl)
Do be aware that WordPress.COM tweaks and integrates new features on a fairly regular basis, even before they are released as a part of a regular WordPress update, so some material in the book may be slightly outdated by the time you read it.

Oh-one more thing. The Support forums are a fount of creativity. There are a lot of skilled users here who have come up with some great ideas and workarounds and also blog about them.
Here’s the short list (these are currently in my blogroll) and I’m sure I’m forgetting someone, so whoever reads this and sees an obvious omission, please add it:
