Flashback Trojan
-
I just read on a Apple Mac support site that the Flashback Trojan has been propagated through WordPress.
Can you please confirm if this is true or not.
Or what, if anything, we as users/bloggers can do about it.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

There is a difference between wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG. Wp.com has far greater security precautions than WP.org.

I’m sorry you had difficulty understanding my answer.
The answer to your original question is: no, it is not true for WordPress.com.

Actually, I have been advised by two clients that my wordpress website is infected with a Trojan, picked up by their anti-virus software. I have trawled the WordPress website for some information – nothing. Has anyone else experienced this problem? How do I confirm it? And how do I fix it?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

First off, the likelihood of a wordpress.COM site being infected by the flashback trojan is virtually zero due to the security around here.
Given that the site linked to your username is only 2 days old and has zero activity on it I would presume you are talking about a self-hosted wordpress site and those are supported at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ .
DO NOT put the link to the site here because if it is infected, and someone should click on it, they may end up getting infected.

Hi The Sacred Path,
Thanks for your quick response. The website that should be linked to my user name (and I’m no techno whiz) is [removed] (no link – just the site address). That is the site has been live since Christmas having been developed through an Elance supplier. It is hosted through GoDaddy. I thought that was the wordpress.com service. Am I wrong?
Thanks.

Just realised the reply created a link for me – my apologies. Please don’t click on it!

If you are hosted on Godaddy you have a WordPress.ORG install and should make friends over at WordPress.ORG – see above for the link.
Good luck

@moderators, could you please remove the link to the site above, which may be infected with the flashback trojan.
