Flexible Header
-
As you can see on my blog, my header is larger than 1120 X 160 pixels. However, I want to change it, but I can’t create a new one header of the same size I have now. I realize Blaskan says that the header is not flexible, but if that’s the case, how did I manage to create a header that’s more than 300 pixels high (without using CSS, btw)? (It was done a year ago. Did the setting on Blaskan change? If so, that really sucks that there used to be a flexible header and now there is not!) Please advise. Thanks!

Sorry, never mind. Turns out I like the smaller header anyway, so this isn’t an issue for me anymore.

For the record, flexible header doesn’t mean it allows you to insert images of any size, it means the image shrinks to adapt to different screen resolutions and devices.

Justpi, I’m not sure you’re correct. I think you are thinking of “responsive layout” in your description. A flexible header lets you play with the height and width. Blaskan is a responsive design, but it does not offer a flex header. Interestingly, it appears that it used to, because I had one a year ago — and, incidentally — because by larger-than-now-allowed headers is saved on my headers page, I can still use that former header. However, I cannot create a new header with my former dimensions. That’s a shame that Blaskan would regress in that way, but oh well.

Themes with flexible headers as a feature are listed here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/#flexible-headersBlaskan width 1120 x 160 height
Note: 2 & 3 column layout is 1120 and 1 column layout is 540. -
Time thief, I totally understand the specified dimensions. But please take a look, for example at my “testing” blog, where you will see that my header, which I made last year, does NOT conform to these dimensions. In other words, it appears as if Blaskan used to allow flexible headers and now does not — but will allow you to still use saved old headers. Any new ones you create have to conform to the specs you cite above. I hope I make sense here. (Still, seems a step backward to have had flex headers only to regress to fixed ones now. ) Thoughts?
Here’s my testing site:

See how large the above header is compared to my regular site’s header. Yet both use Blaskan, of course.

My thought is that as you consider this to be an issue that needs Themes Staff attention the best way to proceed is to tag the thread for their attention. I did that already so please subscribe to the thread and you will be notified when they respond which maybe after the weekend.

I’m not totally sure what happened when you uploaded the one that is 336px height (I assume it was a temporary glitch.) but the theme is supposed to only support a fixed size header and there is no plan to add a support for a flexible size header.

Just FYI, I can still upload a header that is larger than the fixed size specified by Blaskan — if that header already exists as an option because I’d made it in the past. I just can’t create a NEW header that doesn’t conform to the fixed specs. Thus, it seems Blaskan does still allow old headers that were larger than the fixe specs. The glitch, in some way, is still there.
