flickr photo was ‘moved’ – not showing now
-
Hi. I used a photo from Flickr a week or so ago and the photog wrote to me to say he moved it (not sure why or what that means) and I might want to “recapture” it. It now just shows a blank space where the photo was and says “this photo is no longer available.” He says it’s still on his Flickr stream, just moved. How do I “recapture” it? It’s an old post so I have to add it in somehow. Thanks for any tips!

It sounds like the URL for it has changed. You’ll need to get the new URL and update your post.

You have to go to his FLickr stream and find where he moved it to. The URL is not the same now, so you’ll have to find the new one and use that.
This is why a lot of people prefer to copy the images rather than hotlink from a site under someone else’s control. It was nice of that photog to let you know he’d moved it, but if you just copied it and hosted it at WP.com while linking back to him then you’d have control over the URL and it wouldn’t change unless you changed it.

sometimes on flickr you don’t have the option to copy it, and can only blog it.
thanks tho’.

You still can’t do anything until you find it.
This is why I always copy the image to my own webspace, then link it to the poster’s Flickr stream to give credit.
