Flickr Pictobrowser support?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve tried to use Pictobrowser to post a Flickr slideshow, but if I put the code in and then preview, it just eats the code and leaves some small bit of gibberish < br>, no slide show. Is this kind of slide show not supported on WP.com?

    Find Pictobrowser here: http://www.db798.com/pictobrowser/

    No.

It’s javascript and will always be stripped out for security reasons. If you do a search of the forums you can find a static Flickr workaround, though.

I’m sure you were going to copy and paste the code you are trying to enter, right? Please remember to place it with the backticks. That’s the key above the tab and to the left of the ‘1’ key on a standard keyboard. Else all we can do is make guesses as to why you’re having problems and you really don’t want to do that with this crowd. Chances are you;re trying to use somethign with javascript or an object tg or something simular. Those are removed from all user input due to security concerns.

For reference though, here’s the instructions for the slideshows that are supported here.

raincoaster- thanks. i guess i’ll live without.

drmike- i did use the backticks. i was showing you what the code transformed into. here’s the code i was trying to use, which does have an object tag. so. oh well.

    <object width="500" height="580" align="middle"><param name="FlashVars" VALUE="ids=riverdalemarket&names=riverdalemarket&userName=maiapapaya&userId=96368479@N00&titles=on&source=keyword"></param><param name="PictoBrowser" value="http://www.db798.com/pictobrowser.swf"></param><param name="scale" value="noscale"></param><param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff"></param><embed src="http://www.db798.com/pictobrowser.swf" FlashVars="ids=riverdalemarket&names=riverdalemarket&userName=maiapapaya&userId=96368479@N00&titles=on&source=keyword" loop="false" quality="best" scale="noscale" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="500" height="580" name="PictoBrowser" align="middle"></embed></object>

Yeah, it’s the object tag. Best bet to do is try to convert it to one of those four that I link to.

    Good luck,

I’ve seen this issue. Here is the solution if you want pictobrowser.

    1) Go to Write->Page (or Manage->Page for an existing page
    2) Below the page title, and above the place where you enter content, you should see two tabs, “VISUAL” and “CODE” … MAKE SURE YOU CLICK “CODE”
    3) Paste in the Pictobrowser code

    done.

The blog linked to your name, and the link in your post are self-hosted blogs running on the software downloaded from wordpress.org, not blogs hosted here at wordpress.com.

The software here at wordpress.com is different. Javascript, iframes and flash are not allowed her at wordpress.com, the code will be stripped out by the system.
