flickr slide shows

why does wordpress not allow us to easily put in a slide show from flickr? I know there are options to make a video and link it but why can’t we just connect right to the provided slideshow code? I find this really annoying

?? Wouldn’t the solution be the same for all WordPress blogs?
I have the same question as oakstreetgarden. My blog url is:
http://scotthargisphoto.wordpress.com/I have the embed code from a Flickr slideshow, and according to Flickr I can “just drop the code into my blog” — however when I do this, WordPress simply deletes it with no warning. My goal is to have a blog post that displays the slideshow. How can I do this?

@scotthargis-no, the solution would not be the same for all WordPress blogs.
For bloggers using the self-hosted version of WordPress software, they should be able to drop the javascript flickr provides right into their blog. For WordPress.COM blogs, we can’t use javascript, so using the VodPod post to WordPress button is the only way you can post the flickr slideshow to your WordPress.COM blog.

The reason I ask is because I’d like to show photos on my sidebar but I don’t really need yet ANOTHER outside website to update in order to do this.

The Flickr widget shows images from your Flickr account. Unlike the version for independently-hosted WP blogs, it is not dynamic.
-
You upload images to flickr. The flickr widget then pulls images from that flickr account and shows them in the widget in your sidebar.
