Flickr Slideshows

Although embeddable, not always working with WordPress.com?
Try the VodPod Browser Button for Firefox.

Unfortunately, I just did, I get Oh no! we couldn’t get anything! Same when I use the Vodpod post to wordpress button. Vodpod is just unreliable

IMHO this is a major negative. While I love the templates and administration of the free WP.com blogs, not being able to embed flickr slideshows kind of kills the joy of using it for photography. Why should I have to upload my photos to WP.com if they already exist online at Flickr? Blogger may not be as slick, but I can easily embed a flickr slideshow.

Hard to believe we cant use embed flickr slide show, it would be a great improvement for me if it worked.

Hi all-
While our Post to WordPress button isn’t designed for slideshows, or other objects that aren’t videos, it does seem to work just fine with Flickr slideshows. I just added the demo slide show from the flickr blog no problem to one of our test wordpress.com blogs:http://remixation.wordpress.com/
A couple of tips:
a. Be very careful when you enter your blog URL, username, and password. We need all the details to be exactly right for us to authenticate with WordPress.com. (Sorry to stress this, but we find that in about 99% of reported problems, bad logins are responsible).
b. Make sure you see a functioning preview of the slideshow in the popup player. If you don’t, you may need to click the “Click if you’re having trouble” link, and then paste in the embed code. Click preview to make sure you’ve got it.

I should have added: GeekyCoder on WordPress has a great post about why certain things work, and others don’t (it’s a wee bit technical, but very worthwhile if you’re interested):

this is interesting. I would be great if you could do a short tutorial on the procedure above. I tried it but is just isn’t clear. Does the blog need to be self-hosted?

Hi there,
Yes this method has worked for me, but all 3 times I have pasted a Flickr picture slideshow using Post to WordPress the pictures disappear after awhile. It’s usually about 24 hours.
The slideshow works just fine then the next day when I go back to my blog, a black screen is showing that says “Oh no, we couldn’t find anything.” I have the user name and password set up just fine and my pictures are set for the public to view. I have even deleted the post and tried again with the same set. It shows up for the first day then something happens where I get the “Oh no” message.

So what is happening? Anyone know?
Thanks!
