Flickr Widget not showing in sidebar

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, I tried to add the Flickr Widget to the sidebar in our community organisation’s WordPress blog so that we could display our photostream. However it has not appeared in the sidebar, nor any options to edit settings etc as with the other widgets used.

It does however show as a ‘used’ widget in the widgets list.

Any ideas how to make this widget display in the sidebar successfully???

Our WordPress site is at http://westclifftransition.wordpress.com/

(PS, I’ve linked our flickr account to the blog successfully with no problems, its only the flickr widget that is problematic)

This is exactly the problem I’m having, too. I’ve added a Text widget to the sidebar of my blog and pasted the code from my Flickr set into it, but the slideshow isn’t showing up in the sidebar of the blog.

When I close the Text dialog box, the information is there but when I click Save Changes to exit out of Widget editing mode, that’s when the code seems to be stripped from the Text widget box.

I’m guessing that the code isn’t valid, but I’d have thought it would be since all I did was copy it from Flickr? If the code *is* valid, I’m not sure why it’s happening…

I’m going to search the rest of the forums to see if anyone else experienced this and got some resolution.

Gazedd, when and where exactly are you supposed to “Hit Alt+W”? I’m up for trying that if it will fix this problem.

goto your flickr account and select the picture set you want to add to your blog. At the bottom of the page theres a link to the RSS feed, copy the link. Goto to your widgets section and select the Flickr widget (no need for text widget) then paste your RSS feed link in the appropriate box and then save and now your pictures will show.

I’m curious also, where would one hit the Alt+W button and what would that do?

Thansk for the advise, however my problem is that despite being shown as a ‘used’ widget, the Flickr widget isn’t showing in either of my sidebars, nor is there any way of selecting the flick widget to alter any settings. I did the Alt + W thing, nothing happened…

I have the same problem. It worked for a while but when I changed the theme, it stopped working. The calendar and my links aren’t showing as well.

did any of you bother to look at the FAQ or even contact support. If you think your doing everything right and its still not working then contact support, I just feel like were running in circles here. Also did you guys clear your browsers and caches first.

    Hi,
We have a bug with widgets when the theme is changed right now. Sorry for the problem. We’ll let you know when it is fixed.
