Flooded with daily hits I don’t want!

Some time ago, I added a post with a certain word in it. For several weeks now, I’m getting maybe 100 hits a day both in Referrers and Search engine inquiries, searching on that word. I’ve deleted my post but still get the same level of hits. If I can’t figure this out, I’m closing down my blog. 3,000 illegitimate hits a month isn’t what I’m interested in.

The fact they hit your blog searching for “certain words” is just what happens. The hits don’t bother your normal visitors and really isn’t something to be worried about in my opinion.

Hits are hits. Why complain. I get hits from weirdos too. And that says lots coming from me!

Just checked your site and it’s a religious site. So does the word have to do with sex or porn? lmao

kennmakk, what is the specific word?

Getting the word and putting it in your blog is not the intent of this thread. We can leave it alone.

I understand your concern, and may I suggest you think of it this way: those people may not be specifically looking for what you have to tell them, but if what you say has resonance and is well-said, you may move a few people anyway. I have some experience with this myself.

I personally get plenty of hits which have nothing to do with my blog, so should I just close down my blog? Obviously not, you just have to ignore these unwanted hits.

Thanks for the feedback, fellow humans. Yes, it’s a religious blog, but sorry to disappoint: nothing about sex. Yet for somebody out there, the word “watermelon” seems a major turn-on. A hundred a day, though? Seems more like some automated search rather than someone with a fixation hitting the blog that many separate times a day.

Maybe due to the spring time, people are searching for watermelons? Unless other words follow that word. Then you’re in a whole different mindset!
