Follow Blog signups not working
-
No matter what email address I insert into the Follow Blog filed on my website, the response I receive is ‘You’re already subscribed to this site’ even though the email address I am entering are definitely not listed under ‘Followers’ or ‘Email Followers’
https://wordpress.com/people/followers/priorlake.wordpress.com
https://wordpress.com/people/email-followers/priorlake.wordpress.comI’ve removed and re-added the Follow Blog form and the problem persists.
Please advise.
Thank you.
The site I need help with is priorlake.wordpress.com.

Hi there!
Could you try that from an incognito window? Either that or log out from your WordPress.com account and try then.

An Incognito tab didn’t make a difference in Chrome, I think because I was logged into our WordPress website. However, I was successful at testing the subscriber form in Firefox, where there was no saved cache and where I wasn’t logged into our WordPress site already. It worked!
So, problem solved. Solution: don’t test the subscriber form while logged into your WordPress site as an admin.

Ah yes, as a site admin you can’t really subscribe to your own site. The reason being that we use that email address for site notifications and other admin communication.
If you log out of your WordPress.com account, and use an address other than the one you set your WordPress.com account under, you can “see what others see” when they subscribe to your site.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Yup. Though, I also tried subscribing using an address not associated with a wordpress account and that also failed while I was logged into the wordpress site already using a different admin email address than the one I tried to subscribe. So, basically, it didn’t matter what email address I typed into the subscription form, it failed every time, as long as I was logged into the site.
After logging out, the form worked correctly.

Right, the form on the front end of your site isn’t designed for an administrator adding new followers. For that, we’d recommend inviting followers instead. You can read about that here:
