Follow Blog Widget
-
My follow blog widget is displaying the number of followers I have, but I don’t want it to. The “Show total number of followers” box is unchecked, yet it continues to show my total number of followers. Please advise on how to fix this. I want it turned off.

Hi there,
I just went through all of the blogs which you have hosted on WordPress.com and did not see the widget which you’re speaking of. Did I miss it? Which blog are you having issues with?

I am referring to my fashionsdivastyle.wordpress.com blog. The email sign up form requesting followers shows I have 25 followers. I do not want the number of followers to show. For some apparent reason, that started showing. I never turned it on, and according to the widget that controls it, it is not on (the box is unchecked) but the numbers of followers is showing. I’d like for it to be turned off.
Please advise.

Hi there,
I took a look at the follow widget, and it is not showing the number of followers currently.
Here’s the widget for those who are logged in to WordPress.com:
And here it is for those who are not logged in:

I cleared my cache and cookies. My number of followers is still showing. It’s still showing on my PC, my Amazon Kindle, and my sister’s iPad and they use different browsers, so I don’t think it’s a browser issue. When you expand the email form on my website page, it tells you that I have 25 followers. I don’t want that to show. Again, the box is not checked for this to show so something is causing my number of followers to show.
Any ideas?

Ah, I see! When you said “expand,” it made sense. That is the built in “Follow” button, and there is no way to change what it says. The “Follow” widget which you have been changing is the one which I sent you screenshots of previously.
You can choose to turn off the Follow button for anyone who is not logged in to WordPress.com. You can do so by logging in to your Dashboard and then going to Settings >> Reading and then going to the Follower Settings section and unchecking the box. Then click the save changes button.
