Follow Blog Widget not shown in WordPress.com plugin search results (June 2012)

Why does Follow Blog Widget not appear in the WordPress.com plugin search results?
Also, why was this post refused when I gave my blog site as blog.oldchinabooks.com, which is a WordPress.com blog (determined by searching WordPress.com, by the WordPress.com circle-W logon on the blog site, by the link to WordPress.org in the upper-left W dropdown (if we were at .org why would there be a link to .org), and by the fact that the plugin search cannot find “blog subscriber” “Follow Blog Widget” and other plugins because that are for sale at .org and not available to .com. [If there were a simple About menu for WordPress, it would not be so difficult to figure out where this blog is located.]
Thanking you in advance for your assistance.

blog.oldchinabooks.com – – is a WordPress.ORG install and not a WordPress.COM blog
There are no Plug-in’s on WordPress.COM – security thing
The site you are asking about does not seem to be hosted on WordPress.COM so you need to make friends over at WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using.
This site is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/

Why is my login recognized at WordPress.com, and refused by WordPress.org?
How does one tell when looking at the actual blog, whether it’s .com or ,org?
Surely, there is some more definitive way to do ID which WordPress than simply relying on being told to get the h— outta Dodge and gallop over to Tucson by some impatient WP guru WP (for the 4th time)?
So, I guess it comes down to – proove it! {Wanna step out into the street, Pilgrim?]

WordPress.ORG and WordPress.COM log-in’s are not related and different accounts –
When you are logged in you should see a gray nav bar at the top of the screen when you visit a site that is hosted on WordPress.COM – also a “Powered by WordPress” with a link to WordPress.ORG is another indicator (not 100% it turns out as there are some themes that did not have the footer cleaned up when they modified the theme to work on WordPress.COM –
Since Plug-in’s are not allowed on WordPress.COM they give you a lot more Widgets so you have many things built in that you need to add to a WordPress.ORG install.

Hmmmmm,
Is it possible that a WordPress site hosted by Yahoo Web Hosting is some kind of 3rd-class citizen in the nation of WordPress?
At the very bottom of my blog Dashnoard there’s a “WordPress” link…that goes to .ORG. And the Help (the “lower” Help – not the upper Help that goes to Yahoo Web Hosting) forum link also goes to .ORG.
But I have this Dashboard chockablock with themes and widgets and plugins that cellophane wraps my blog – I have not had to wite a single crumb of HTML (okay, okay, so I put a couple of hrefs into a text widget) – wouldn’t I have had to build my own site in HTML at .ORG?
Is a Yahoo implementation of a WordPress blog some kind of Chimera (in my case, most certainly disconsolate), part lioness, tail like a snake, head of a goat?
Well, okay, Pard, I’ll mosey on over to Tucson and see what they have to say at .ORG about my blog site. Sure seems is a passel of trouble, tho’, just to get a way to round up some heifers to subscribe to my blog.
Yippee-kai-yay,

Not really – anyone can get the free WordPress.ORG software and install it on their web site if the site meets the requirements to run it.
Yes the generic “WordPress” is a bit of a problem and confusing most of the time
WordPress software is very popular as it is easy to use and you get a nice looking site that is easy to add content to.
Another way to tell which is which is to look at the bottom – if it says “Blog at WordPress.COM” it is hosed on WordPress.COM.
Good luck
