  Hi, Is this widget only for people with a wordpress account? My friend tried to easily follow the blog, pressed the button and it asked her to sign in to wordpress – is there a follow button which is similar to the email sign up but that is just a button for regular people w/o wordpress accounts and can sit in my header area/easy to find?

  Yes, it is only for people with a WordPress.com account, using the WordPress reader. You can use the meta or RSS widgets to provide your friend the RSS feed to follow.

  Thanks. Just because I am a debutant – the meta and rss feeds do what? Rss is just a feed that says there’s a new blog? I am looking for an easy follow widget which sits in the header and isn’t the email sign up?

  The meta widget offers the rss feed. The rss widget does the same, in more detail.

  HI, thanks, I am looking at this thinking it helps me access my dashboard but doesn’t seem to be for people to click follow my blog?

  Try adding the Follow Blog widget instead of the Follow button:

  http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/

  This will allow non-WordPress.com users to sign up for email notifications for your site.

  Hiya, yes I love this widget but it’s a bit clunky/wordy for the header and I was looking for this exact thing but as a button to sit in the header?
