  I’m trying to add a Follow button. I get as far as getting the menu to add widgets. There is a list that includes the one to add a follow button. But when I click it, nothing happens. I do not get the menu that allows me to customize it.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  You can set up email subscriptions here > Appearance > Widgets > Follow Blog Widgets by using this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/ Read it closely because it does not provide for “customization”. What’s required to “customize” any widgets is an annually renewable Premium upgrade bundle and CSS editing.

  You can also post there prior to purchasing an upgrade to get an answer to whether or not what you want to do can be accomplished via CSS editing.
