Follow Button confirmation
-
Hi. I have a free wordpress blog account. Whenever someone (non wordpress account holder) clicks the ‘Follow this blog’ option and enters their email id, they again have to confirm the same from their email account (they get a mail). Many times, they miss this mail and unknowingly, they still don’t become a follower. Is there a way to remove this second step of email confirmation?

Hi there,
Due to spam laws we are not able to remove the confirmation step.
If there were no confirmation process (where the subscriber confirms they want to receive content in their inbox) then it would allow less scrupulous site owners to “sign people up” without their knowledge and use the site to spam their inboxes. The process of confirming the subscription via email also helps ensure that future posts will not go to the spam folder by mistake.
Note: If someone visits your site and they already have a WordPress.com account (and they happen to also be logged in to their account) they can can follow your site with one click, and do not need to confirm the subscription via email.
