Follow Button is not showing
-
Hi there,
For our digital marketing class we created about 15 “learn blogs”. On one of my students blogs the “Follow Button” in the lower right corner is not appearing. Instead we can only see the three dots.
Does anyone know why the “Follow Button” is missing and where we could enable it again?
Thanks a lot,
PeterThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
What is the URL of the student’s site? I would like to take a look because without CSS, there is no way to disable the follow button – so, it should be present on the site.
Let me know, thanks!

I have a similar problem with two of my sites:
glueckpresse.wordpress.com
glueckbuchautor.wordpress.comI tried to create a widget to follow my blog but whatever I do it does never appear. When I log in with another user account the widget is not visible anyway.
Please take a look on the sites to find out what I have done wrong. Thank you in advance!

You can set up email subscriptions here > Appearance > Widgets > Follow Blog Widgets by using this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/
If you would like a follow button to appear on the bottom right hand corner of your site for those who do not have WordPress.com accounts go to > Settings > Reading and scroll down to Follower Settings:
These settings change emails sent from your blog to followers.
Logged out users __ Show follow button to logged out users.Checking this will present a follow button to logged out users in the bottom corner of their screen.

As I wrote before there happens nothing like this. I tested it with three testing contributions, logout and so on. I can reach widget setups and click on “publish” but there does not appear any widget on any site whatever I try. I wrote to you because you have more experience and you can look inside all settings.
I would be more than happy about your help. Thank you in advance!
It is about the two sites

Hi there,
I see the follow button now on https://glueckbuchautor.wordpress.com/
It’s not showing on https://glueckpresse.wordpress.com/, because that site has no published posts.
The Follow button is there to allow people to subscribe to new posts on a site. However, if a site doesn’t publish any posts, only static pages that don’t have an RSS feed, there is nothing to subscribe to, so we automatically hide the follow button.
Once the owner of that site publishes at least two posts the button will appear automatically.

Where do you see that? That setting was removed from all WordPress.com sites almost two years ago, when we first introduced the new action bar with follow button. The action bar appears for all visitors and there is no way to switch it off for logged out users. Whether or not the action bar includes a follow button depends on whether or not there are published posts on a site.

He**o, when I check it with another computer I can see the fo**ow feature. On my own machine it is not visib*e, neither in the customizer nor when I am *ogged out and refresh the site.
OK, today my keyboard misses the i-j-k-?-m-n key, I hope you understand my message anyway.

On which site is that? As I mentioned above, it should show on one of your sites, but it shouldn’t show on the other as that site has no published posts.
It also sounds like the problem might be with your computer, or more specifically your browser. Please try clearing the browser cache and cookies, make sure your browser allows JavaScript, and also disable any browser add-ons you have installed to see if that helps.
