Follow button on mobile devices for non-WordPress.com users

  I would like the follow button for non-logged in users to appear on my blog page on mobile devices. I added the follow button widget, but that requires a user to create a login to WordPress. I have turned on the option in Reader settings to include a follow button for non-logged in users.

  How can I make this work?
