follow buttons on reader doesn't work

We had a big spike in spam subscriptions recently, so have temporarily made the limits more strict. Hopefully we’ll be able to relax them before too much longer, but for now I’d suggest trying to space out the follows a bit.
I’d also suggest asking your students to view the actual sites in their browsers and clicking the follow button there, rather than pasting the URL directly into the Reader.
I’ve re-enabled follows for your account. I’ll follow up with you via email so we can do the same for your students.

After reading all of these discussions, it is clear that I have been blocked for being unaware of the anti-spam strategy — a warning would have been nice, I am willing to follow at a slower rate, but I did not know this was necessary — and would like to be unblocked. I am a simple blogger. I had created my account years ago but only recently got serious about using it consistently. I love the follow feature and would never abuse it. I am new to the WordPress universe and only wanted to connect, not be a spammer. Please unblock me. I promise to follow sites at a very slow pace, just give me some idea what that would be. One a day? Two? Thank you for your consideration.

If I follow more than 2 or 3 a day it won’t let me follow anymore. This is a pain if I want to follow more than 2 or 3. Why is this happening. kokkieh, I don’t understand. Please Reply.

Daisymae, I don’t think there’s anything we can do. Until WP relaxes their settings, I guess we’ll have to suffer. Or we can change to Blogger. https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g#welcome I used to be with them and migrated over here. WP better act soon unless they want to see a mass exodus. This whole thing is irritating!

Is blogger free? I don’t spam. What is considered SPAM? What is wordpress’s follow limit. I follow other blogs because I enjoy blogging. But you’re right, this is irritating and I h didn’t know there was a limit.

Yes, it’s free. There’s also lots of templates even though it doesn’t look like it on the welcome site. If it’s still the same, they also have a community where you can find blogs you’re interested in. This whole ‘spam’ thing here is new to me. It’s their system that deems actions as spam, but what I didn’t like is the false accusation of being a spammer and “abusive.” That was NOT a system thing but a human thing. I was very happy when I was with Blogger and I left only because I had this one friend who kept bugging me to join him over here. I was with Blogger for years, and also WP for years.

Your account is not blocked from following. If you’re unable to follow it’s most likely an issue with your browser. Please try clearing the cache and cookies and see if that makes any difference.
I am now closing this thread. If anyone else needs help with enabling follows in their account, please start a new thread instead.
