  I can’t find the Follow by Email widget in the new block editor.

  In the new editor, look for the Subscribe block: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/subscribe-block/

  No this is not what I want at all.

  I used to be able to add a “Follow by Email” widget across the site – and this was in Appearance/Widgets.

  I don’t want to have to add a “Subscribe” block to each post or page as I still use the Classic editor having been a WordPress user since about 2008!

  Okay I found it in Appearance/Widgets.

  Now I have the “Subscribe by email” in the footer on all pages and posts site-wide.

  However, on the blog roll it does not appear until right at the end of the roll. Can I fix the blog roll so we only see initial paragraphs and images for each blog and then the reader doesn’t have to scroll so far down to get to the “Subscribe”??

  The limitation here is the Stow theme you’re using. Since this theme does not have a sidebar widget area, any widgets you add to your page would be inserted into the footer of your site.

  Without changing themes, the only way to affect your blog page is to adjust the following:

  1. Change your homepage to display excerpts rather than the full post.
  2. Reduce the number of posts showing per page.

  Both of those settings are under Settings -> Reading in your dashboard. You can use either or both to adjust what works best for you.
