Follow Email, Statistics and timing

  Hi there – I love WordPress! Is there normally any time delay between me recieving email confirmation that colleagues have signed up to Follow my blog and when those colleagues appear on my Site Statistics page? My sense is that I have emails saying peole have signed up but the stats page does not seem to show any change.

  There may be a slight delay but it should not be too significant. If you have any specific usernames or email addresses you’re wondering about feel free to send us a note privately at support@wordpress.com.

  Many thanks – I asked the question since the email acceptances come through with a specific patterned gravatar, but yet is don’t see those gravatars next to any of the email address on my Site statistics. With vents being this way round it is not possible to comment on specific email addresses since the email confirmations i see are anonymous.

  Thoughts?

  Yes, there is usually a delay in that list.

  I recommend just checking it once at the end of the day if you want to compare it to the emails you received.

  Three import things to keep in mind:

  1. A subscribers may not have a gravatar when they first join (and you receive the email), but they may set one later (by the time you check the list).

  2. A subscriber receives a confirmation email with a link that must be clicked to activate the subscription. If this link is not clicked, they will not appear in the list.

  3. A subscriber can just as easily unsubscribe and may therefore never appear in the list.
