'Follow me' button plugin request
-
Hi,
I have been blogging on wordpress for about 6 months now, (3 years on other sites) and I am amazed at how inflexible the free blogs are. I understand that with having a paid option, there must be a free, more primitive version. But, this is rediculous! I am trying to get some ‘Follow me’ buttons on my blog’s side bar so that people can easily view my profile on twitter, pinterest and other social media websites. I have spent the past hour trying to do it, (with no results) and then I found a plugin. To my shock-horror, YOU CAN’T USE PLUGINS ON FREE BLOGS!Could you please make this plugin accessible to those without the plugin capabilities; as without it, it makes others feel like they own second rate blogs. (which they don’t, they just don’t have or want to spend the money to buy a domain)
Thanks :)

You already have those features and can find “Follow” widgets and email subscription widgets from your Dashboard
Appearance > Widgets > Follow Blog & Follow Button
Grab and drag to your site sidebar or footer. Remember to Save and you should be good to go. No plug-ins needed.

Hello,
I checked that out, and it’s not what I’m looking for. Those were buttons to subscribe to my blog. I’m looking for buttons that allow readers to follow me on other social media websites (pinterest, twitter, etc.) that are connected to my blog. Is this possible? -
You can add widgets for several social media platforms to your blog, yes. See this section of the support pages for the different social media integration options: https://en.support.wordpress.com/category/social-tools/
For Facebook specifically: https://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-integration/
And Twitter: https://en.support.wordpress.com/twitter/#add-a-twitter-timeline-widget
I don’t think there’s a Pinterest follow button, though.

Okay, thank you!
It’s a bit annoying that there is not much flexibility, but at least I can do this… even if it is somewhat restricted. Thanks for your help! :)

You’re welcome. And staff monitor the ideas forum, so they’ll also see you suggestion. It’s no guarantee it will be implemented, but you never know.
