  How do i add widgets to a menu page. eg I want to add a menu called about and on the page i want to add widgets so people can follow the blog from there.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  On some themes we can control widget visibility based on the page. But on your theme (Resonar) this is not possible in a way you want it because, there is only one widget area located on a screen that appears when you click the ellipsis icon (three dots) in the main menu.

  what theme do you recommend I try?
  i liked the resonar theme because it doesnt show the entire blog post..it has the ‘continue reading’ any similar theme that i can play
  around with the widgets?

  ‘Continue reading’ link can be shown on any theme using More Tags. Here is more info about More Tag: http://support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

  Theme choice is subjective and depends on individual preference. I suggest you take a look at Theme Directory for the themes that support sidebars and pick the one you like: https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/left-sidebar+right-sidebar/

  While in the Theme Directory, experiment with various filters and find the theme you may like :)
