FOLLOW via Email Widget not sending activation

  I’m having trouble with the default “Follow via Email” widget in the sidebar. To test my Follow widget, I enter a different email address I have but I never receive the activation email. Also, when there is a new post, I don’t receive emails about the new posts.

  What is causing this?

  Hi there. I just tested the widget and the confirmation email came through immediately, so the problem could lie with your browser. Try clearing the cache and cookies and see if that makes a difference: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

  Thanks for your advice. I cleared cache in Chrome and Safari and tested it again with my alternate email. I still wasn’t getting the activation email. So, tested the Follow with another email address I have and this time it worked. I received the activation email.

  So, I’m guessing the issue was that WordPress.com already recognizes the first email address I used because I have a WordPress account under that email. However, when I used another email address unknown to WordPress.com, it worked.

  I just wish that WordPress.com would still send an email or show a message that the email I entered is already following, so I wouldn’t be wondering why I am not receiving activation emails.
