FOLLOW widget not sending email confirmation
-
While I’m getting some followers from this widget, when I try to follow myself I get no email response. Am I missing potential followers or is this because I can’t follow my own blog?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
If you’ve set up the follow blog widget according to these instructions, it should be working properly: https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/
Let me know if you need any further support.

Hi, Forum
I am also having problems with a Follower trying to sign up to my Blog. I have correctly installed the follow-blog-widget as 30 followers have already been successful. He has used 2 different e-mail addresses and I have tried from my side to log him on as a follower. I get the message saying a confirmation e-mail will be sent, but no confirmations on his side or my side as the Blog Member are being received. If I try to “Follow” again, I get the message that it’s Pending. I then followed the “If you have a problem contact us here” tab and got directed to the “Re-submit mail address” page, I resubmitted the e-mail address and received a message saying there was no previous record of it having been submitted.
My blog is https://quirkyworldview.wordpress.com

Hi there,
First, keep in mind the Follow blog widget is just one way that people can use to subscribe to your site via email. Logged-out visitors to your site can also do this via the action bar that shows on your site, and logged in visitors can control this directly from their account settings or from the Reader:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/following/
@neilwjsmith, were you logged in or logged out when you followed your own site? If you were logged into your WordPress.com account, we would not send you a notification. You can certainly follow yourself, but we’re not going to send you an email to tell you that you did :)You can also check who is following you by going to My Site ->People. The Followers tab there will show everyone following you with a WordPress.com account, though these won’t necessarily have email notifications enabled, and the Email Followers tab will show people who don’t have an account, but who specifically signed up to follow your site via email.
@quirkyworldview, can you please give the email addresses that follower is using to try and subscribe to your site? Type each email on its own line, and it will be hidden from public view, but I’ll be able to see it. -
Hi, Kokkieh, sorry, I’ve been travelling, but here below are the two e-mails my friend has been trying to use to Follow.

Hi @quirkyworldview,
I can confirm that a confirmation email was sent to the Gmail account on July 29th. Please have your friend check their junk/spam folder as well as Gmail’s “Promotions” tab.

Just an additional note – the Telkom email address you gave above are blocking all emails from us. Your friend will need to unblock that email address first by accessing their subscription settings at https://subscribe.wordpress.com/
For more info on Gmail hiding subscription emails, see:
This is something that’s happening on Gmail’s side, and we can’t do anything about it, but the email to that address was sent.
