Follow widget not worki8ng properly

I’ve activated the follow widget and it appears on sites of folks who don’t belong to wordpress. When an email is entered we get a message that a confirmation has been sent to the requested email addresses. But it never arrives. We’ve tried this again and again, and it doesn’t work. Do I have some other setting activated that keeps these requests from going through? Have checked in the junk mail box and not there either… help!

Check the Settings > Discussion page to make sure email notifications are turned on.

My message was a bit misleading. The problem occurs when a NON-wordpress person asks to follow my blog. He gets a message saying to expect a confirmation email, but this email never arrives, effectively keeping me from having non-wordpress people follow my blog.

Aha! Now I understand. Are these people checking their email spam filters? Have they “whitelisted” email from @wordpress.com in their email clients?

Thanks! But Spam has been checked and the confirmation email is not there. I did find a check box on my dashboard menu under Settings/Reading/Followers that was previously unchecked. I checked it, and it seemed to suggest anonymous followers could now follow me, that is, people who are not wordpress users. But repeating the whole process with this non-wordpress person again resulted in a confirmation email being sent, but not turning up in his spam or inbox… Can there be anything else? I’ve looked everywhere

i have the widget. As a owner, i dont recieve any email with the warning of a “new follow”. 3 o 4 mounths ago i was recieving them with very usefull information like the IP and the country…¿any tips? -
by the way, i notice that using: settings->Read-> Follower Settings, i dont recieve any email like the case of vinnygrette,
however, when i active the widget -> “follow blog” it work pretty well, try it, but the owner dont recieve notification of the new folllow :( -
On your dashboard look under “settings” to make sure you have checked the box allowing you to get an email whenever someone follows you.
My own problem was finally resolved when I discovered that the person who wasn’t getting a confirmation message was ALREADY a follower!
