follower count not accurate?

hello! this morning i realized that the follower count is off on my blog. i have several new twitter followers and facebook likes that should affect the final follower count, but these are not showing up on my site stats page (or the total follower count on the blog itself). i realize some may find it a trivial issue, but it’s bothering me. :) how often does wordpress update those numbers, and is there something i can do to get them updated? thanks for any and all help! :)

Likes and shares are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can “like” and “share” your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. i’m not worried about page view stats. i’m talking about my follower count as reported at the bottom of my site stats page.

The new numbers are actually sent to us by Twitter and Facebook, they aren’t something that we can directly acquire.
Typically, they’re updated every 24 hours, but it could be longer if there’s a delay on their end.
