Follower Count Not Updating?

    Hi,

    I’m not sure but it seems that my latest follower (since August 11th) has not been counted. Under ‚Users‘ I count more followers (myself included) than the statistics tell me I have. So what gives?

    The problem seems to have solved itself with gaining another follower.

    Hi there,

    I’m not sure I understand where the two numbers are that you are comparing.

    What is the URL of the page where you are seeing the number of followers that “statistics tell me I have” and how is it different from the one you are seeing in your users sections here?

    Currently I show 11 WordPress.com followers here: https://wordpress.com/people/followers/hirnundlust.wordpress.com

    And I also see you have 3 “email only” followers here:
    https://wordpress.com/people/email-followers/hirnundlust.wordpress.com

    Added together, I see you have a total number of 14 followers. You see a different number in your statistics? If so please point it out so we can take a closer look as well, thanks.

    Hi,

    I’m no longer seeing different numbers in my statistics. With gaining another follower, the count seems to have updated again (by itself)!

    Before the different numbers were displayed under “Stats” as well “User > Follower.”

    I don’t know why the counter lagged behind, though.

    To clarify, the displayed numbers were not different; they were merely incorrect (as the latest follower had not been counted).

    Hi there,

    I should probably clarify that our stats are not in realtime, so you may see some discrepancy between the numbers reported in one interface vs. the other, but those usually will sync up if you give them 24 hours or so.

    And yes, I should have phrased it differently. In fact, there was no discrepancy between the numbers reported in one interface and the other; the discrepancy was between the numbers reported by WordPress and the actual numbers of followers (as I could count them myself in the “Follower” list).

    Still, the follower counter was apparently not updated for some five days. Is there some upper limit that you would recommend to wait for before coming here if this problem should arise again in the future?

    Yes, if within 24 hours you see a different number displayed for total followers in your stats (vs. the numbers reported on the “user” pages) please let us know so we can take a closer look.

    It will help to catch the issue “in action” whereas for today when I checked the numbers were in agreement so there was nothing for me to look into more closely.
