Follower gravator: virus! Option to remove
-
I pressed on a follower gravator for a blog post and suddenly 2 photos in a blog post became blurry & pixelated in my blog!!!!!
I noticed the new follower never showed up in my follower, comments alert at top right.
After that happened there was an automated string of pingbacks. I deleted all these pingbacks immediately.
I request strongly that wordpress.com give blogger administrator the option to remove a follower which in fact is masking a virus.
So I had to cover up the followers for several blog posts.
So it’s clicking on a follower gravator that you’ve never seen before…that’s the danger on your blog!
I normalized my blog post, by deleting the damaged photos, etc.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Sorry, I meant, the person who “liked” my blog post. I appreciate this alert to Wp.com staff, timethief.

I think that may have just been a string of coincidences, I don’t see any “virus” activity (we monitor for that 24/7), and there’s no way that someone can alter your blog without your password.
I think they may have been a spam follower, who followed your blog and left a bunch of spam comments, and the image blur was just your browser having a glitch.
For the image issue, first please make sure that your browser is up to date by visiting http://whatbrowser.org/
If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.
If it is, please do these four things:
1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/
2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled: http://en.support.wordpress.com/third-party-cookies/
3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.
4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

I use Internet Explorer 10.
I cleared my browser’s cache from time and time.I think we’re missing something here in the dialogue:
As soon as I clicked on the pixelated photo at the time, it generated pingbacks for 4 different blog posts of mine.
And this loop, happened twice within 10 min.
http://cyclewriteblog.wordpress.com/2013/03/22/its-dog-gone-love-trinkets-fashion-and-urban-infrastructure-for-dogs/ This blog post masks the likes gravatars. One of them is shamiantracker and other is in Korean with a photo of a white woman. Both of these gravatars never showed up in my top right list of recent liked alert (or comments).
The gravatars that I am suspicious are in 9th, 10th one…if you can possibly see on the back end?
Why would I enable third party cookies?
-
Sorry about the third-party cookies bit, I should have removed that.
I don’t really see any problems here, and frankly, what you’re describing just isn’t possible to be connected.
I believe the Likes and Pingbacks may have been coincidental. Can you give me links to the Pingbacks so I can check?
Even though the Like button isn’t displayed on the post, it can still be Liked through the WordPress.com Reader: https://wordpress.com/#!/read/

I really hesitate opening up the culprit gravatars to the rest of the world here on the forums.
So I hope you can see the gravatars on the backend.
-
I did, I don’t see anything wrong there. They liked your post from the WordPress.com Reader.
