follower migration
-
I wish to migrate followers (email and wordpress reader followers) from tyburnmaildotcom.wordpress.com to tyburnmail.com. I can follow the process okay but in the list of blogs it allows me to migrate from the one I need (tyburnmaildotcom.wordpress.com) isn’t showing up.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi daveharte,
To move subscribers from WordPress.com to a self-hosted site, you will need Jetpack. An outline of the process is located here:http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/moving-your-subscribers/
There is also a Subscription Migration Tool Guide here:
http://jetpack.me/support/subscription-migration-tool/I hope those help. :)

Thanks. It’s that process I have the issue with. I have followed it and it then allows me to choose which wordpress.com blog I want to import followers from. That list is partial (of the ones I have) and doesn’t include the one I want.

@daveharte
What is the URL of the blog your refer to?
Exactly which username account registered it?That list is partial (of the ones I have) and doesn’t include the one I want.
That could be an indication of a hidden blog registered under the same WordPress.com username account or a blog registered under a different WordPress.com username account.
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard.
Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
If you do not see the blog here http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/ then
follow this guide > http://en.support.wordpress.com/my-blogs/#my-blogs-dashboard-visibilityIf you have lost your log-in information you can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If you are not successful type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff assistance.

ah ok. Another admin of the https://tyburnmaildotcom.wordpress.com/ was the original register of the blog (I am a recent admin for it and managing the migration). Would that be the difference then? Only the original admin can make the transfer?
-
You got it.
Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner and it is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and associated email address.
The blogs owner must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchased upgrades to renew them or transfer the blogs and the upgrades to another username account.
To transfer a blog from one username account A to another username account B the blogs actual owner must first log in under the username account A that owns the blog you want to be transferred to theanother username account. Then you A can use this process to transfer the blog to that username account B instead http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

Great. Thank you. I will get the original admin to do the follower migration. Thanks for the help.

Dave, thanks for letting us know you’re all set.
If I can help with anything else, just drop me a line.

Actually this didn’t get resolved as it seems you have to be the originator of both site (the original wordpress.com site and the self-host) in order to do the migration. That can’t happen in this instance as a different admin (to which I have access) started the worpress.com account whilst I started the self-host.
Frustrating. Solution?

Just to be clear. This is the account (tyburnmail) that started the wordpress.com site (https://tyburnmaildotcom.wordpress.com/) and daveharte is the account that started the self-hosted mirror of it tyburnmail.com
You can see I sometimes forget which account I am logged into!

OK, I can take care of that for you, however in order to do so I will need both owners to comment in this thread that they wish the followers to be migrated.
So here’s what I’ll need from you.
1) Log in as the original blog owner and explicitly state which site is giving up the followers and which site is receiving them (if a WordPress.com blog, it should be [blogname].wordpress.com, if it’s a WordPress.org blog, the actual domain name) and that you want to transfer the subscribers. I know it was said before, but just getting everything down for official purposes.
2) After doing that, log in as the receiving blog owner and state that you agree to receive the subscribers.
Once I get comments from both, I’ll be able to take care of things (and sorry for the inconvenience!).

Thanks.
I own https://tyburnmaildotcom.wordpress.com/ and wish the followers and email subscribers to migrate to: http://tyburnmail.com
[Just to complicate this a little I out in a change of ownership yesterday so that wordpress user daveharte becomes the owner of https://tyburnmaildotcom.wordpress.com/. That is still in process though and the original ownership still stands]

Hi
I am the owner of the receiving blog http://tyburnmail.com. I agree to receive the followers and email subscribers from: https://tyburnmaildotcom.wordpress.com/
Thanks.

You do love to complicate things, don’t you! ;)
In fact, it looks like the transfer has completed, so after all of that, it wasn’t even necessary. Goes to show!
I went ahead and completed the migration for you anyway, and all of your subscribers are now sitting over in tyburnmail.com.
Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns! Once again, sorry for all of the chaos.
