Follower not appearing on list of My Followers (email only subscriber)
-
I manage this blog for our organization, and:
1. Logged out of the blog.
2. Subscribed as an email only follower with my personal email address (not affiliated with this WordPress account).
3. Clicked on the “Confirm Follow” button in the email I received from WP in my personal inbox.
4. Received a confirmation email that I am now following this blog.
5. Logged back into the blog as the administrator.
6. Went to the site stats page, clicked on the Blog link under followers, and checked the email only list. My personal email address was NOT listed, and our follower count did not increase after I subscribed and confirmed my subscription.Any idea what may be going on? If it’s happening to me, am I not seeing other subscribers as well?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Staff will details so post the specific email address involved please. The software will redact ie. HIDE the email address so only Staff can see it. After you do that subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

Hi there,
Can you let me know the email address you used to sign-up as a follower? Please note, the email will appear as “Redacted” in the forum thread. However, it will be visible to staff members.

Hi Jeremy,
The email that I used was (email visible only to moderators and staff)
BTW, I am receiving email notifications of posts being published at that address.

Hi!
That’s odd – if you’re receiving updates, you should be on the list of email subscribers. I just subscribed using my own email address (I’ve since removed myself), and both the list and the number were updated instantly. Can you try unsubscribing and then resubscribing to the site? You can unsubscribe using the details in the confirmation email or by logging in here:

Hi Jeremy,
Actually, I tried that before posting on the forum, and it didn’t change anything. I still didn’t show up on the Email only followers list.
I did unsubscribe and re-subscribe again today with the same result–I’m not there.
It’s not a huge thing that I’m not showing up because I’m the guy running the blog. But it does make me wonder if others have subscribed and I’m just not seeing them, and that is more of a concern. (We are pushing our volunteers to subscribe to keep informed of what’s happening in our organization, and I need to see how much progress we’re making towards 100% subscription.)
Thanks.

Hi,
This issue is the result of a bug concerning the email address you’re using to follow your blog. Since the email address was previously used as the admin email address on your account, the subscription is activated, but the email will not appear under your email subscribers on your stats page. This is a bug we’re aware of and looking to fix. Unfortunately, I don’t have an anticipated timeline right now. However, I’ll let you know as soon as a fix is in place!
In the meantime, your other followers should be showing up correctly. The only email address that will have an issue is an email that you previously used on your account as the owner of the blog. Other emails will be recorded!

Hi Jeremy,
Thanks. I couldn’t remember if when I took over the account, I was using my personal email address or the organization’s email address. Obviously, it was the former.
From my perspective, knowing that other subscribers are appearing on our followers list correctly, I consider this issue to be closed. If you feel it’s important for other users to address the bug, that’s your call.
Thanks so much for investigating and getting to the cause.

No problem. I’m glad we were able to figure out what’s happening. In the end, your email should be reflected in the subscriber stats so it’s something we will look to correct in the future. Let me know if you have any additional trouble!
