Follower notifications

Can someone please tell me why I’m not getting notifications in my email when the blogs I follow post a new blog? I have some of them set up to notify me instantly, and they are not showing up in my email box. I don’t check my reader very often, but noticed I wasn’t getting notifications so I checked it. Sure enough, several new blogs were posted and were supposed to come to my email box instantly. Is WordPress having issues? Any suggestions?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Thank you. I posted again about this situation since I posted this one. I don’t think my regular followers are getting notified about my posts either, because very few of them have visited. I noticed others also posted about this problem all this week.

I wondered if I subscribed to this thread, if responses would show up in my email box. Yours did, so I’m guessing any others will too.

    Hi there,

Creating duplicate threads is not in your best interest as it will delay the time it takes for you to get help. Staff work their way through support tickets and forum threads tagged for their attention by dealing with those that have the earliest date and timestamps first.
You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com.

Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.

Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

To do any tracing, Staff will need a couple of usernames of WordPress.com followers who are not getting your posts. They will also need the email addresses of a couple of followers without WordPress.com blogs. Email addresses you post will be redacted ie. HIDDEN by the software and only Staff will be able to see them.

P.S. Traffic for some unknown reason seems to be way down for everyone and it may not be just because it’s summer holiday season.

I don’t know how WordPress has two emails for me, but the one on my settings is the one that is not receiving notifications. If you type in notifications in the search engine for the forum, you’ll see I’m not the only one this is happening to. I’ll have to scan through my followers to see if I can gather up a few email addresses. I’m not sure how it works that those addresses won’t show up here. Will that happen automatically, or will it have to be looked at first before they are redacted?

You type the email addresses in and the software will automatically redact them.

I tried finding email addresses, but they are following me through wordpress. I don’t know where to find their email addresses.

Okay then just wait patiently for Staff to assist you.

Note that every time we post to this thread we move the timestamp moves forward. Staff respond to threads by answering those with the earliest datestamps and timestamps first.

Did you check your Follower settings at http://wordpress.com/#!/read/edit/ (click on ‘edit’ next to the blog you are receiving notification e-mails from) or delivery settings at https://wordpress.com/?ssl=forced#!/settings/subs-delivery/ ?

  • Unknown's avatar

The first link you provided to settings in the reader/edit are set to receive instantly and have been all along.

The second link under subs-delivery, the top setting regarding email notifications is set on – instant email delivery. Is there anything else in that setting that I’m supposed to change that I should know about?

    Thanks.

I’ve checked your account and the settings look alright. Have you also checked your spam/junk e-mail folder for any notification e-mails? Otherwise try to contact aim.com to see if they filter mails coming from WordPress.com

    Thank you.

Yes, I’ve checked my spam. If you type the word ‘notifications’ in the search box of this forum, you’ll see several others are also dealing with this issue. It’s been going on for over a week now, so some of those posts are from back then. I hope this is something that can be fixed. Thanks.

There seems to be a bug. Our developers are working as we speak. I’ll contact you once it has been resolved.

    Thank you for your patience.

This issue about email notifications from blogs I follow seemed to be cleared up last Thursday. Today, once again, I’m not getting email notifications. Emails are the best way for me to keep track of those I follow. I thought the techs should know that it’s happening again. Please let me know if someone will be working on this soon. Thank you.

I’ve come to notice something else about email notifications. It’s been happening since the beginning of August, and clicks on my blog have been down since then too. It would seem that people aren’t getting notifications from my blog either. Almost two months is a long time to go with this problem. I hope this issue can be cleared up soon.

  • Hi Lori – The email issue has been fixed. If you’re still missing them, could you please give me a couple of examples of specific posts that you’ve not received a notification for, and also please confirm the email address where you expected to receive the notification. Thank you!
