Follower stats
-
Home page indicates 128 followers, but these do not appear on my stats page, which shows only 59.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The homepage total includes any social media followers. The 59 number you are seeing only includes WordPress.com and email followers. But if you add those 59 and 69 Facebook followers that are listed right below the 59, you get the 128 you are seeing on the front page.
Does that make sense? Please let me know if not.

You have your site connected to Facebook. You would do this on your Settings–> Sharing page in the Dashboard. Here is our support page on the topic:
Take a look through that page and let me know if you have any further questions. I’ll be happy to help.

Sorry–still not clear to me. Do you mean that a person is counted as a Facebook follower even though he may have clicked only one time on a hintsandechoes post that was posted on Facebook and ignored any others which subsequently appeared?
If so, in what sense could he be considered a “follower”

When you use Publicize to auto-post to Facebook or Twitter, your friends (or followers in the case of Twitter) are added to your WordPress.com follower stats.
Here’s a thread where someone asks the same question about Facebook followers, it may make things more clear:
